Study Day 16 November 2019

November 16, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

In place of the November talk we will be holding a study day at Cross Memorial Hall on 16 November
From 10am to 4pm and the cost will be £10 for non-members.

In the morning, David Roberts will be exploring landscape archaeology through a look at the river systems of the Somerset levels and Mary Ewing will talk about what you can learn from looking at vernacular buildings.  The afternoon will be a talk and hands on pottery session from David Dawson about how to look at pottery.  Hand lenses will be provided.  There will be a break for lunch so either bring your own to eat in the Hall or if you prefer to go out there are two pubs within walking distance. Coffee and tea will be provided.

No previous knowledge is required.  It’s basically intended as an introduction to some aspects of history and archaeology. We hope that the day will enable members and friends with a strong interest in heritage matters, but no specialist knowledge, to widen their understanding and appreciation of the rich diversity of Somerset’s past.  The day will be informal and, hopefully, educational but fun.

Booking is required so please let me know if you would like to attend.
