John Steinbeck and the re-telling of Malory’s Morte d’Arthur

Andrew Pickering will be talking about
“John Steinbeck’s year in Somerset and his endeavour to retell Malory’s Morte d’Arthur” a talk which should be of considerable local interest.

Andrew is a lecturer at Strode College where he designed the History, Heritage and Archaeology degree programme accredited by Plymouth University.

He studied Medieval and Modern History at the University of Birmingham and he holds MA degrees in Victorian Studies (University of Keele) and Archaeology and Heritage (University of Leicester)

He has been a member of the archaeology committee of the Somerset Archaeology and Natural History Society and the editor of the society’s newsletter. He sits on the committees of his local museum and heritage trust, and has participated in excavations and other field-work at several local sites in association with the South Cadbury Environs Project, the Beacon Hill Society, university units and contract archaeologists.
